"In the summer of 2020, Munich was botanized with Schani-Gardens. During the pandemic, improvisation became a legitimate instrument and architecture without architects returned to the city. For 'Schanitown' architect Alexander Fthenakis roamed through the city and photographed the flying structures. He later classified a selection and described their typologies. City planner Jonas König (TU Berlin) contributed an essay about the phenomenon and its temporalities. He ventures from the Shah to the Schani and back, thereby contextualizing the local into the overarching."
