The design of the paths, small buildings and plantings around the Athens Acropolis in the early 1950s is the masterpiece of the Greek architect Dimitris Pikionis (1887-1968). A work in which tectonic inventiveness, spatial sensitivity and knowledge of the mediterranean landscape are united in a large-scale, walkable mosaic. Its basic themes are the relationship of things to each other, their relationship to nature and to history.
