The area of the Wilhemskaserne - a former military quartel - has been redeveloped over the last years into a residential neighborhood. The project proposes a large-scale structure containing 160 apartments of varying sizes and typologies organized around two courtyards, reminiscent of the Viennese housing projects of the early 20th century. It closes the new neighborhood towards the southwest and protects it from the noisy crossroad and the activity of the adjacent Leopoldstadt Firestation. On the ground floor it houses a super market and a kindergarten. The building and its heterogeneous program is built upon a simple and rational grid structure. The facade is made of refabricated light wooden elements.
