The existing house is located high above the port of Hydra in a pronounced slope. Its garden courtyard is like a square, surrounded by neighboring houses and intersected by the topographical slope. Towards the northwest, the view over the picturesque harbor town with its seafaring tradition across to the Peloponnese is uninterrupted. The previous owner abandoned the renovation work on the approximately 100-year-old family home and sold it. In addition to the planning of the extension, it is particularly important to design the fallow garden courtyard and to extend the house with a studio space. The courtyard is reinterpreted as part of the island's myriad public stairways and plaza spaces. In the topographical reorganization of the site, a garden studio also finds its place inconspicuously as an extension of the house.
